Paper Birch has a chalky, creamy white bark that peels into strips. It has a rapid growth rate and can reach a height of 50—70 ft. with a crown spread of 30—50 ft. at maturity (80 years). Multiple trunks are common for open-grown plants. It has an upright oval form. It prefers sandy loams, but will tolerate a
variety of soil types. Plant in cool, moist, well-drained sites. It’s shade and drought intolerant. Dark green leaves turn yellow in the fall. Uses include wildlife plantings, horticultural applications, and commercial products. Do not plant near power lines.
