Sugar Maple has a slow to moderate growth rate obtaining a height and crown width of 60 to 80 ft. at maturity (75-100 years). It has a dense upright oval to rounded crown. It prefers moist well-drained loams and clay loams. It is very shade tolerant but sensitive to drought, pollution, and salt. Bright green
leaves develop outstanding fall color ranging from yellow to orange to red. Flowers appear in early spring with winged seeds that are released in fall. Uses include wildlife plantings, ornamental and street plantings, wood products, and maple syrup. Do not plant near power lines.
